American portrait and genre painter, 1824-1906 American painter and printmaker. Between 1840 and 1842 he was apprenticed to the Boston lithographer John H. Bufford (1810-70). His mastery of this medium is apparent in his few lithographs, of which the best known is Marguerite (c. 1865-70; Worcester, MA, Amer. Antiqua. Soc.). In 1845 he moved to Washington, DC, where he drew portraits in chalk, crayon and charcoal of prominent Americans, including Daniel Webster, John Quincy Adams and Dolly Madison (all 1846; Cambridge, MA, Fogg). In 1846 he settled in Boston and brought his early portrait style to its fullest development. His chiaroscuro charcoal drawings, of exceptional sensitivity, were remarkably sophisticated for an essentially self-trained artist. In 1848 he travelled to Europe to study painting at the D?sseldorf Akademie. Galeazzo Campi
(1475/1477 - 1536) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance from Cremona. He was a pupil of Boccaccio Boccaccinis . His representation was rather rigid, but careful. His landscapes show influences of Perugino and Giovanni Bellini. Campi was the head of an artist family, existing in the middle and end of 16th Century who lived in Cremona and left numerous works of art. His three sons, Giulio Campi, Antonio Campi and Vincenzo Campi are historically noteworthy.

Cesare Vecellio
(c. 1530 - c. 1601) was an Italian painter and engraver of the Renaissance, active in Venice. He was the cousin of the painter Titian. Like Titian, he was born at Cadore in the Veneto. He accompanied Titian to Augsburg in 1548, and seems to have worked as his assistant. Many of Cesare's pictures were ascribed, perhaps knowingly, to Titian. In the Milan Pinacoteca there is a small Trinity by Cesare. He died at Venice. The woodcuts for the contemporary fashion book, De gli Habiti Antichi e Moderni di Diversi Parti di Mondo published in Venice in 1590 by Cesare, in large may belong to Christopher Krieger from Nuremberg. Cesare also published a book of prints depicting the jewels of royal crowns, titled Corona delle nobili e virtuose donne (1591). Cesare's brother, Fabrizio di Cadore or Ettore, was little known beyond his native place, for the Council-hall of which he is said to have painted a fine picture. He died in 1580.
